Sponsor a sight-saving eye surgery today. We work with WIPAHS medical in Tanzania. A donation of $140 covers one eye surgery.
Blindness is a major cause of disability and poverty. Sight affects a person’s ability to learn, to access economic opportunities, and to live a life of independence, especially for people living in developing countries.
In Tanzania specifically, there are 300,000 people who are blind, and 8 million living with some type of visual loss. Among the main causes of blindness are easily treatable causes such as Cataracts and Glaucoma. It is estimated that 4 out of 5 causes of blindness are preventable.
Welfare Aid International is supporting Medewell, a local well-established charity in Tanzania which is carrying out 3000 eye surgeries per year.
While here in Australia we may take a simple cataract or glaucoma procedure for granted, such procedures are very difficult to access for many people in Tanzania.
With a simple donation of $150 , you can dramatically alter the course of someone's life .
We are hoping to sponsor 600 of these surgeries by the end of this week. Please give your best donation this week.
